Tahuri Whenua Incorporated Society is a National Māori Vegetable Growers Collective representing Māori interests in the horticulture sector.
KEY OBJECTIVES ARE TO:
- Ensure Māori have access to relevant resources in the horticulture industry;
- Promote an awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi;
- Facilitate Māori participation in research and development in the horticulture sector;
- Support Māori Business Development in the horticulture sector through provision of advice and information.

MATARIKI 2016 - TEPAPA EVENT
We invite you to join us at Te Papa to celebrate Ngā Kai o Matariki -a day devoted to kai (food) Try samples, learn how to grow traditional Māori produce, and see Matariki-inspired demonstrations by celebrity chefs.
Dr Nick Roskruge will deliver a short presentation that explores the whakapapa of an array of kai-Maori which are grown or foraged for utility. This presentation will also include an introduction to a number of relict varieties of kumara and taewa for which Maori are still the kaitiaki. We will explore what it takes to maintain these kai-Maori as a living collection with our future generations in mind.

2015-16 Maara Kai Projects - Aotea Region
Te Puni Kokiri have again offered support for maara kai projects this summer season. Tahuri Whenua are assisting as an umbrella group for the Aotea/Wellington regions.
